In a ceremony attended by over 9,000 residents, Mayor Ismael Burgueño of Tijuana officially installed the representatives of 1,091 Neighborhood Committees in an effort to bridge the gap between City Hall and local communities.

Held at the Mobil Park Stadium, the mass swearing-in event aims to strengthen citizen participation and create a direct channel for addressing local needs. Mayor Burgueño hailed the moment as historic for Tijuana, asserting that organized community input is now a central pillar of his administration’s decision-making process.

“The members of the neighborhood committees have become City Hall’s strategic allies, acting as the eyes and voice of their communities, allowing us to prioritize actions and manage citizen needs more efficiently,” he stated.

For the first time, every single neighborhood in the municipality is being representing, exceeding the government’s goal of 1,058 areas, signaling that no community will be left behind.

According to the mayor, the transformation of Tijuana is built by being on the ground, listening to people, and ensuring public funds go where they’re needed most.

In his closing remarks, Mayor Ismael Burgueño emphasized the importance of collaborative effort. “We must work as a team and remain united to ensure every neighborhood benefits.

He further assured that the Municipal Government would continue to advance transformative programs (such as “Tijuana Limpia” and “Tijuana Saludable”) to foster a more participatory, equitable, and prosperous city for all.
