Continuing with its commitment to enhance the city’s appearance and public services, City Hall has deployed urban improvement teams across several neighborhoods as part of the “Tijuana: Clean City” program. The initiative, carried out under the direction of Mayor Ismael Burgueño Ruiz, recently focused efforts on the delegations of San Antonio de los Buenos, Playas de Tijuana, and Downtown.
The first phase of operations took place in the El Tecolote neighborhood in the San Antonio de los Buenos delegation. Crews concentrated on sweeping roadways and collecting four tons of bulky waste. Maintenance work was also performed on streetlights along Tijuana and La Presa streets. The cleanup effort directly benefited more than 2,000 local residents, including students from Ramón López Velarde School.

Operations then moved to Hernán Cortéz Street in the El Soler neighborhood of the Playas de Tijuana delegation. There, municipal workers patched potholes covering 100 square meters and pruned green areas spanning 1000 square meters. An additional five tons of waste were removed from the area. To further improve the neighborhood’s infrastructure, crews repainted 200 square meters of road signage and repaired 10 streetlights, enhancing safety and visibility for over a thousand residents.

In a separate operation in the Hipódromo neighborhood, located in the Downtown delegation, crews focused on Mocorito Street. Tasks included extensive weeding along 1,200 linear meters and a comprehensive clean-up to remove silt, accumulated trash, and overgrown vegetation. As part of efforts to reinforce traffic safety and urban order, curbs were also painted red.
These coordinated actions form part of a broader municipal strategy aimed at the recovery and ongoing maintenance of public spaces throughout the city. Officials state the goal is to foster cleaner, safer, and more organized environments for all Tijuana residents.

The supervision of these recent works was led by Delegation Coordinator María Guadalupe Rubio Cucue, alongside delegates Guadalupe Javier Notario (San Antonio de los Buenos), Alejandro Moreno Ibarra (Playas de Tijuana), and José Luis Portillo (Downtown). Local residents who have benefited from the improvements were also present during the oversight visits.
