Tijuana police arrested 222 people allegedly involved in various crimes between Feb. 16 and Feb. 20, according to the city’s Department of Security and Civilian Protection (SSPCM).
The arrests are part of a broader public safety strategy led by Tijuana Mayor Ismael Burgueño aimed at restoring peace and stability in the city.
During the five-day period, authorities reported several key arrests: 13 people were taken into custody on suspicion of carrying firearms, 34 were arrested in connection with vehicle theft, and 13 others were accused of armed robbery. Police also reported 69 arrests tied to low-level drug dealing, 24 arrests of individuals with outstanding warrants, and 69 additional arrests for other offenses.

Officials said coordination with state and federal authorities has been critical to targeting crime hotspots and locating individuals identified as alleged offenders.
Police also credited community members for reporting suspicious activity and locations where crimes may be taking place, saying those tips have helped officers remove suspected repeat offenders from the streets.
Residents can report emergencies by calling 911 or by using the city’s official apps, which allow people to request police assistance directly. Authorities said the department will continue working to strengthen public safety across the city.
