Officials from the U.S. State Department recently toured the construction site of the new Otay East border crossing.
According to a post from the U.S. Consulate in Tijuana, the new crossing will include both a commercial and passenger port of entry designed to strengthen trade and facilitate legitimate travel between Mexico and the United States.

The visit was conducted alongside U.S. Consul Christopher Teal, who joined officials to review the progress of the project, which aims to boost economic activity along the Tijuana–San Diego border.

“The modernization of border infrastructure is essential to advancing economic development, competitiveness and prosperity in the CaliBaja region,” the consulate said.
