Mexico's President Admitted To The Hospital For Emergency Surgery

Cancel's trip to Guatemala

MEXICO.- Mexican President, Enrique Peña Nieto, was forced to cancel his tour around the globe given that he was admitted to the ER to receive surgery this morning.

Through a statement, Mexico's Presidency mentioned that the President went into surgery after feeling physical pain early in the morning, an ailment that led him to the Military Central Hospital. This is the second procedure Peña Nieto has undergone during his administration.

This time, the surgical intervention had as purpose removing his gall bladder. Previously, in 2013 a nodule in his thyroid was removed, creating rumors about an alleged cancer.

The statement also mentions that 'the President is already in recovery and will reincorporate to his daily activities on Monday, June 29th."

The media awaits a press conference where the federal government will provide more details regarding the operation that prevented the President from visiting Guatemala.
