Baja California begins the week with 101 people hospitalized due to COVID-19. According to the head of the State Secretariat of Health, Alonso Pérez Rico, 29 of this total are in need of a ventilator to continue fighting for their lives.

As he has commented on other occasions, since April it has been observed that the people who are being hospitalized are adults from 40 years of age, and no longer over 60 years of age, as at the beginning of this pandemic.

Pérez Rico assured that this is due to the fact that the elderly population has already been vaccinated against COVID.

Let's remember that on Sunday, May 30, the vaccination of 40 to 49 year olds began, but only in the municipality of Mexicali, and according to Pérez Rico, another shipment of 120 thousand vaccines from AstraZeneca was to arrive in Mexicali yesterday, with which the application of the drug to 40 year olds will also begin, but in Ensenada.

As of Sunday, the hospital occupancy rate for COVID-19 in Baja California is 23.91%, with 426 beds and 239 ventilators available.

Today, 344 cases are still active in the state, of which only 239 are located in Mexicali, while in Tijuana there are 79, in Ensenada 13, in San Felipe seven, in Tecate four and in Rosarito two. San Quintin reports no active cases.
