There Is Now A Cuban Ambassador For The US

This position has not been occupied since 1961

UNITED STATES.- Today, a really big step has been given into normalizing Cuba and the United State's relationship, given that as of today the island's government assigned someone to serve as ambassador in the North American country.

Jose Ramon Cabañas will the first person to occupy this position in over half a century, to be more specific since 1961, when the US closed its door to the Caribbean country, forbidding commercial exchange as well as tourist visits.

Today, Cabañas was in the presence of President Barack Obama in Washington, for a ceremony where 15 other diplomats also attended, giving their letters of credence to tale upon their embassies.

Cuba's current ambassador, had previously work as head of Cuba's Section of Interest in Washington since 2012.
