2015 Gourmet Awards had Baja California as Host and Big Winner

The awards took place in Ensenada

Recently, Baja California has been recognized for its culinary scene, which is hard to define but has been without a doubt exceptional and with great quality.

This aspect has been so important to the state this year that, thanks to the Secretary of Tourism (Secretaría de Turismo del Estado [SECTURE]), in collaboration with Grupo Expansión and Travel+Leisure magazine, Baja California was the ideal venue for the fifth edition of the Gourmet Awards.

The event's main objective is to recognize what Baja California and Mexico has to offer to the world's tastebuds. The awards took place in the Rivera Civic and Social Center (Centro Cívico y Social Rivera) in the city of Ensenada.

Baja California won three awards out of 14 categories:

The top award named "Best of The Best" was given to restaurant Amarante de Toluca.

A dinner took place after the awards to continue celebrating the country's culinary goodness. Corresponding authority figures attended the gala, among them the State's Tourism Secretary, Oscar Escobedo Carignan, the general director of Grupo Expansión, Manuel Rivera and Federal Tourism Sub secretary, Enrique de la Madrid Cordero.
