Beer of the Week: Hay Fever from Parallel 49

Beer, beer, beer

Yesterday was International Beer Day, but let's be honest, every weekend is OF the beer and FOR the beer, so forget all those technicalities and enjoy the many amazing flavors this drink has for you. Plus, you can enjoy it any day of the year.

Yes, Tijuana beers are awesome, but in this case I've decided to go beyond that with Canadian"Hay Fever" from Parallel 49 brewery. This is a rare beer within the brand, because it usually only comes out in Spring.

I bought it at Calimax and it was such a bargain, for this beauty only cost me $32.00 pesos (2.00/3.00 dlls). You can find this bottle with no refrigeration among others, but this one gets your attention thanks to the famous painting of American Gothic, but from a more grotesque perspective.

The label reads that "Hay Fever" is made with traditional French yeast from one of the most productive craft beer province in Canada: Columbia Britanica.

"Hay Fever" has a really brilliant yellow color, and its smell is "winey", but the aftertaste is definitely citric, just as a sweet grapefruit with a touch of pepper, because is not really that bitter. Although the sips of Saison beers are usually fresh and gentle, this one has a 6.5 proof of alcohol, so you better drink it at your pace.
