First Tijuana Film & Food Festival Is Announced

The cinema and the food of the city are ready to offer the best of the best

Tijuana's been growing at a national level in the culinary world, and lately in the filming industry by acting as a filming site for several movies, such as "Las Elegidas" by David Pablos, or "Los Hamsters" by Gil Gonzalez, and also production of TV series, as is the case of Fear The Walking Dead.

As part of this movement, an event called Tijuana Film & Food Festival is born, and it wants to mix the city's delicious creations with the local film market to showcase the competitivity the region has to offer. Dates are Sept. 28, 29, and 30 of 2017.

It was at a press conference that the organizers and the special guests: Actor Hector Jimenez, and Chef Mario Peralta, announced with enthusiasm the first edition of this festival, making an international open invitation through Filmfreeway. The Tijuana Film & Food Festival will have 5 categories:

-TJ Shorts

-Short Film

-Animation

-Comedy

-Culinary

According to the event's organizers, the festival is a completely independent project that doesn't have any kind of support from any governmental institution, resulting in a product built by people with great interest in the filming and culinary industry of the region; however, the crew is hoping that institutions such as IMCINE (Mexican Institute of Cinematography) join them in this journey.

In addition, it was announced that the festival venues and the special guests of the event will be unveiled during the coming weeks.

The short films can be registered on Jan. 12 of 2017 to face a jury evaluation. The short film has to be an "after 2015" production and free of any public exhibition (events, social media, etc.). Duration has to be from 5 to 20 minutes.
