Flow of Haitian Refugees to Baja California Stops

After almost a year the number of Haitian migrants has decreased, but US number of deportees has increased

Haitians have stopped coming to Baja California. Currently more than a thousand foreign migrants are doing paperwork for their temporary stay in the entity, but according to the National Institute of Migration (INAMI), no new arrival of Haitians has been reported.

Rodulfo Figueroa, delegate of the INAMI in Baja California, revealed that 500 Haitians are carrying out their refugee proceedings, another 300 for visitor procedures for humanitarian reasons and only 130 conditions of stay have been granted.

Although the number of migrants has declined, currently there is an increase in deported people from the United States compared to figures from the first two months of 2016.
