Highways 5 and 805 of San Ysidro will have night closures

This is all in order to help with the modernization project of San Ysidro's border gate

The United States General Services Administration (GSA) has just announced that next week there will be night closures on Interstate 5 South in San Ysidro.

Two will be the highways affected next week, the first is Interstate 5 south between State Route 905 and the gate border of San Ysidro, closing its lanes from 10 pm to 7 am, from October 21 to 22. Then Interstate 805 South will be closed between State Route 905 and the gate border of San Ysidro from 10 pm to 7 am, October 23 and 24

The objective of these closures is to continue with the works of modernization and expansion project of the San Ysidro border gate.

GSA will divert vehicular traffic to Highway 805 South through State Route 905 for the first two nights, and alternatively it will divert vehicle traffic to Highway 5 South through State Route 905 for the second two nights.

The access ramp to Highway 5 south by Camino de La Plaza, will be closed during this same period of time.

Therefore, travelers are advised to plan ahead for possible delays, monitor media and traffic reports, and observe traffic signs that announce changes in motorway patterns on affected roads.

Southbound traffic through the Gate of San Ysidro to Mexico will remain open to vehicular and pedestrian traffic during the temporary deviation.

Highway 805 on Oct. 23 and 24, from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.
