It has been always known that California is one of the most expensive states to live in. This has become evident after data showed that thousands of people moved from California in 2018.

US census data details that almost 700,000 people left California last year, while 500,000 people moved to that state. That means there are 200,000 more residents leaving than moving in.

Among the places that Californians decided to move, Texas is first, and then the state of Arizona, Washington, Nevada and Oregon follows in the list.

High housing costs and taxes seem to be the main factors that encourage people to leave the state.

"The cost of living, the opportunity for employment, seems to be becoming a bit more difficult and more competitive. Salaries are the same, so they move to places where the cost of living is lower and they can save more money” said a local driver to Kron 4.
