Although the COVID-19 pandemic is not yet over, some restaurants have reopened their doors to receive their guests in a safe manner, this is the case of Rosarito, a town that has prepared itself with the proper sanitary measures to once again delight its visitors with its gastronomy.

Given this, a group of experts in tourism, hospitality, marketing and media interested in publicizing the various attractions of the region, joined forces to create Welcome Back Baja, a campaign that seeks to make Baja California emerge from the current health crisis.

With that objective, they revealed which are some of the restaurants where Baja California natives and tourists can feel safe while eating in a space that respects the protocols of the New Normal.

Safety is very important to Rosarito, so restaurants are uniting to comply with sanitary measures that allow them to provide a safe space for their guests, so they can share food and moments in the company of their family.

If you are one of those who no longer knows what to eat, cook or simply want to go out to a restaurant, make sure they follow the hygiene and sanitation protocols. On the Welcome Back Baja tour of Rosarito, we found the following:

Puerto Nuevo II

This restaurant is a classic during your visit to Rosarito, because in addition to having years of experience in the area of gastronomy, it is iconic for its lobster. Susana Plascencia Diaz, who is in charge of this restaurant, told San Diego Red about the different sanitary measures she and her collaborators are taking before the reopening and that are now part of their work activities.

Before entering the building, the team undergoes a process where they take their temperature, changes their outside clothing and leaves it in a locker. They are also given protective equipment such as gloves, a cap, a mask and antibacterial gel. Each of the employees was trained to perform their work in this new normality, through the health protocols issued by the authorities and the National Chamber of the Restaurant and Food Industry (CANIRAC).

Each space in the restaurant is sanitized before, during and after its work day. A weekly sanitization service was also hired, while the consumers exit , the tables and chairs are immediately disinfected.

Their occupancy is 30% only, allowing the tables to have the proper space between them, as required in this situation.

For the safety of the customers, they must wear their face masks once they enter, at the entrance they will find a sanitizing mat, an employee will take their temperature and give them hand sanitizer before they sit at their table. The menu will be digital, a QR code will be scanned, although it also has a "disposable" one, which prevents its contact by more people.

Susana Plascencia, also mentioned that "as support to the employees, we continue with all the staff. We have been closed for 2 months and for me it is very important that the employee also feels protected and safe, so we are making a big effort to keep everyone working. Right now we are working for them".

That is why, Puerto Nuevo II not only implemented the takeout service, but it still continues to this day, making you enjoy their famous lobster at home, you can place your order via WhatsApp: 661 614 14 54.

Lastly, Plascencia invited residents from different parts of Baja California to visit them, as she assures that "coming to Puerto Nuevo, means to eat lobster with rice, beans, flour tortillas and butter, like nowhere. Puerto Nuevo is completely clean. All the restaurateurs here took on the task of sanitizing all the restaurants, so we are completely sure that you´ll be in a safe place" she confessed.

Don´t miss the opportunity to try this dish, and if you still haven't discovered the variety they have, visit their social media: Facebook, Instagram or their website.

Raíces Restaurante Baja Internacional Cuisine

If you want to have the Puerto Nuevo experience, from a different angle, Raices has that option, which will not only allow you to get out of confinement, but will also take you on a journey with its dishes, made with organic and fresh ingredients, with a sanitary process ready to delight you in this New Normal.

In a more distant atmosphere, with an essence of peace, Raices offers its restaurant and bar service respecting their clients through the rudimentary measures in the face of the pandemic, some of which are: "checking the temperature when entering, cleaning our shoes, first going through the sanitizing foam filter, then on a mat to dry the excess and antibacterial gel," commented Jesus Villacaña, chef of this restaurant.

When entering, customers have the option of choosing a table in the lower or upper part of this space, which respects the healthy distance of 1.5 meters between them.

Something important that Jesus mentioned, in the company of the chef Guadalupe Sanchez also a member of Raices, is that not only the dining room is sanitized and disinfected, but the kitchen is essential to use face masks at all times, as well as disinfect the vegetables.

"Every product has to be washed, disinfected, and as far as dining room issues are concerned, at the beginning there´s cleaning and sanitization of the tables and also at the end of the shift , always making sure that everything is in optimal conditions. The bathrooms have to be checked, the handles of the bathrooms every now and hen, so that people feel safe to be here on the premises," explained Chef Jesus.

Although at the moment Raices does not have take out service, and if you want to try some of their exotic dishes, you can call and order to go. However, the best thing about this restaurant is the experience and the amazing delivery of their dishes to your table.

"Our service is a little more detailed, so it's a little difficult to have orders to go, we suggest options which they can take home" Jesus mentioned.

"For us it is important that people sit at the table, live an experience, enjoy every flavor, every ingredient, obviously fresh, and so to take them home is to steal a little essence, you can say, "added Guadalupe.

The restaurant has a maximum occupancy of 20 people, so if you want to experience Baja California from its roots, you can reserve a space through Facebook or by phone at 661 850 97 13.

In addition, not only do they have a "disposable menu", but to take care of their customers, they are working on the digital menu and on their social media they post their current menu, with pictures. This restaurant "changes its dishes by season", so each option will leave a memory and a new experience.

Sandra´s Restaurant

Another lobster pioneer restaurant, but with its own touch is Sandra´s Restaurant, one that is committed to customer service and attention, joins the restaurants with the preventive protocol in the face of COVID-19.
This space, as the previous one, is ready for you to share with family a fresh dish, but in a safe environment that has been sanitized every week, one of the managers indicated.

Every time a customer comes in, as well as the employees during the morning, they pass through a sanitized mat to clean their shoe soles, they pump hand sanitizer, in addition to this our personnel has to wash their hands every 15 minutes”, explained Samanta.

Sandra´s customers can be sure that silverware and kitchen utensils go through a process that keeps them virus free, clean and at a temperature that maintains their sanitization.

Remember that during your visit to this and other restaurants you can take your face masks off only while eating and drinking, but once you are finished eating you have to put them back on, as when you entered the place.

Due to the fact that not everyone is willing to step outside, Sandra´s also has a delivery service, and not only in Rosarito, but also in Tijuana. This said if you decide to order one of your favorite dishes from here, you can order through Facebook, Instagram or by calling 661 614 10 51.
