More than a thousand people marched in Tijuana to demand security and justice

"Arturo, listen, we are in the fight" was one of the demonstrations that the citizens expressed to the municipal president

More than a thousand citizens demonstrated peacefully in Tijuana on Saturday night, October 3, from El Sombrero restaurant, and then headed to the Municipal Palace, but first stopping at the El Cuauhtemoc traffic circle in Zona Rio.

The population, who joined this initiative organized by Victor Lagunas, Director of the news portal Tj Comunica after being tired of the insecurity in the city, said during the tour: "Join us, join us that your son can be next" and "They took them alive, we want them alive".

Among the participants were citizens, search groups, civil organizations and mothers, brothers and sisters, and children who have lost loved ones due to insecurity, who walked and shouted euphorically in order to be heard.

In addition to asking for peace, the citizens asked the mayor of Tijuana to fulfill one of his campaign promises, which is to bring security back to Tijuana.

In the courtyard of the Municipal Palace, people took a few moments to peacefully raise their voices for those who are no longer there and for others who have not yet appeared. With signs of "Wanted", with candles and white shirts, there was a loud voice "Arturo, listen we are in the fight" words that went directly to the mayor of Tijuana.

Once they had expressed his discontent and disagreement, below the office of the municipal president, the crowd left their candles and the photographs of those who were victims of the violence and insecurity that is experienced every day in Tijuana.

According to the Citizens' Council for Public Security and Criminal Justice, for the second consecutive year, the border city was considered the most violent in the world, with a rate of 134.24 homicides per 10,000 inhabitants.

In addition, since the current administration took office on October 1, 2019, at least 2,000 people have been killed.
