Sierra de San Pedro Martir National Park reopens October 8

After the permanent closure for the sanitary contingency the National Park will open to the public.

After closing its doors on March 20, 2020 due to the sanitary contingency of COVID-19, the Sierra de San Pedro Martir National Park will reopen this October 8, 2020.

The reopening will follow the security protocols of the new normality. It will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and faces mask use will be obligatory. It is necessary to register the vehicle, as well as go through a sanitary filter and routine checks.

Please note that the visit is only during the established hours and people cannot stay. The use of camping areas will be restricted and can only be operated under reservation from October 5th. The reservation schedule for camping is from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday through Wednesday.

All visitors are reminded that it is necessary to clean the areas they use and deposit their trash in containers, or if possible take their trash with them to keep the area clean. The only areas available for camping will be: Puma, Cacomixtle and Cimarron.

According to the Institute of Astronomy of the UNAM the National Observatory will remain closed during the rest of the year. As well as the cabins and the "Seemel Jaak" Center.
