The Coordinator of the Photography Workshop of the Faculty of Human Sciences of UABC Mexicali, Victor Medina won second place in the World Cup of Photography 2020 (WPC) in the category of coverage.

Medina managed to position himself among the finalists after winning first place in Sony World Photography with the same photograph.

Victor Medina is a photojournalist and professor at the UABC.

The first place was won by Yijui Yang from China and the second place was for Kristian Bogner from Canada.

In Victor Medina's words, the photography sought to enhance the work of the Mexicali fire department. What he did was to look for a composition of the fire wrapping the firemen and the calmness of the firefighters in putting out a fire, taking into account the heat conditions of that moment. A very stressful situation, but dominating the mishap.

Finally, Medina comments that in Mexicali there is a strong competition in photography and different photos are taken, he details that there are many contestants who give a lot of emphasis to images as a way to express concrete situations.

The photograph "Landscapes of Fire" was captured during the coverage of a fire in a recycling plant located in Mexicali and represents the challenging and hard work of the heroic fire department.
