As reported through this website, even though the COVID-19 pandemic has not yet ended in Baja California, municipalities such as Tijuana showed a great affluence of people in the streets and places located in different parts of the city, especially in the Zona Centro, to celebrate Halloween.

Given this context, the Secretary of Health, Alonso Perez Rico pointed out that the next ten to fourteen days an increase in the number of patients in their fever clinics is expected, as well as "many patients to be hospitalized, many patients to enter intensive care units, many patients to require automated ventilation; and many patients who are going to lose the battle.

That is why, despite having approximately 190 ventilators available, the health sector is preparing for the arrival of these potential patients at the various hospitals in the coming days.

"This was a test for our society regarding how attached they are to personal protection measures and their fight for COVID in favor of Baja California. And what we saw is that there were entire families without face masks," mentioned Perez Rico this Monday during the case update.

Also, among the reports they received that day was a party in Valle de Guadalupe, but most reported on house parties, where it is difficult to ask for a filter to enter, the Secretary said.

However, authorities also commented that people cannot be forced to follow measures and protocols, but that it is left to their conscience, since the least they want to do is to sanction, militarize or reprimand society, or even implement a curfew.

So the Secretary of Health said that as he sees the response from citizens, they are going to have to prepare for the winter season in much the same way as if it were the first wave of the current pandemic.

To date, Baja California has registered 22 thousand 292 positive cases, 3 thousand 857 deaths, 100 intubated patients and 444 active cases.
