The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) of Mexico, called on the Mexican population as well as foreigners to avoid crossing to either of these two countries for reasons that are not essential, such as the upcoming festivities.

"All persons are urged to avoid crossing the border between Mexico and the United States for reasons of recreation, tourism, or because of the celebrations that traditionally take place during these months," a statement said.

According to the SRE, some news have circulated regarding the border reopening between Mexico and the U.S., so he maintained that this is false and that the restrictions on border crossings will be in place until December 21, 2020.

"The restrictions are in force until December 21, 2020 in the same terms as those established since March 21 and could be extended again depending on the evolution of the pandemic in both countries".

In addition, both the SRE and the government of Mexico asked the population to be "prudent" about international travel between these two countries, in order to avoid the spread of COVID-19.
