The CDC has 4 levels to categorize countries with high risk of coronavirus infection and Mexico has just entered level 4 which serves to catalogue the highest risk of infection. This is due to the increase in cases of coronavirus that has occurred in the country during the last few days.

For this reason, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has asked Americans to try to avoid any type of trip they might be planning to make to Mexico, since this increases the chances of contracting and spreading the coronavirus.

For his part, the World Health Organization's director general said Monday that Mexico is not in a good position to deal with the pandemic, not only because of the cases it is reporting, but also because the number of deaths and hospitalizations has increased.

The above warning comes after several Americans presented plans to travel to tropical locations during the Christmas vacations. However, if there it is absolutely necessary travel to Mexico, they are asking you to take the following steps:

Measures presented on the official website of the CDC:

-Before you travel, get tested with a viral test 1 to 3 days before your trip. Do not travel if you are waiting for the test results, are positive, or are ill. Follow all entry requirements for your destination and provide any required or requested health information.

-During the trip, wear a mask, stay at least 6 feet away from people who are not traveling with you, wash your hands frequently or use a hand sanitizer, and monitor your health for signs of illness.

-Before traveling back to the U.S., get tested with a viral test 1 to 3 days before you travel. Follow any recommendations or requirements of destinations and airlines.

-After you travel, get tested 3 to 5 days after your trip AND stay home for 7 days after your trip. If you do not take the test, it is safest to stay home for 10 days.

-If you had a known exposure to COVID-19 while traveling, delay your trip, quarantine others, get tested and monitor your health.
