Coronavirus infections continue and now Mexico has surpassed itself by registering 13 thousand 345 new positive COVID-19 cases in just 24 hours, as well as the death of one thousand 165 people nationwide.

According to the report presented a few hours ago in the National Palace, the national mortality rate is 8.7%. In terms of active cases, the Mexican Republic counts 76 thousand 101 cases. The good news here is that 1 million 667 thousand 100 people have managed to beat the disease.

The director of Health Promotion, Ricardo Cortés Alcalá, pronounced on this never before seen increase of cases by COVID-19, arguing that they already saw this rise in infections coming due to the holiday season, as well as the cold weather that occurs in most of the country during the winter season.

Likewise, the official indicated that this phenomenon not only occurs in our country, but also in several nations around the world.

On a worldwide level, Mexico has been placed at number 4 on the mortality list by COVID-19, only behind India, Brazil and the United States, a country that occupies first place, reaching 360 thousand 693 deaths. Bed occupancy is close to 70% in several states such as Baja California, Guanajuato and Mexico City, just to mention a few.

The figures registered in the last 24 hours give us, so far, a total of 1 million 479 thousand 835 infections and 129 thousand 987 deaths due to SARS-CoV-2.
