Baja Californians from 30 to 34 years old are among the most infected by COVID-19

Being the second most affected age group and the last to receive the vaccine, they ask this population to take care of themselves

Despite the arrival of the COVID-19 vaccine this Tuesday and the start of the vaccination plan in Baja California today, the state remains on high alert because of this disease.

So far this pandemic has accumulated 36 thousand 133 positive cases in this state, 14 thousand 644 of them in Mexicali, 12 thousand 476 in Tijuana, 5 thousand 256 in Ensenada, one thousand 383 in San Quintín, one thousand 192 in Tecate, 725 in Rosarito and 457 in San Felipe.

According to the report of the Secretary of Health, Alonso Pérez Rico, the most infected age group in the region is adults over 65 years old, 5 thousand 296, simply because of their age.

"In this sense, we would ask the older adults to start taking much more care of themselves becausethe vaccine [arrived] in our territory [yesterday] and you are the first group that we are going to vaccinate after the medical field".

However, the second most affected group is young adults between 30 and 34 years old, who have accumulated 3 thousand 974 confirmed COVID-19 cases. According to Pérez Rico, this is because they are the ones who are most active and care for themselves the least.

On the other hand, of the 5 thousand 975 unfortunate deaths that have occurred in Baja California due to the coronavirus, the majority have been among the elderly, and a large part of them were among men.

The municipality that has witnessed more of these deaths is Tijuana, with 2,623, followed by Mexicali with 2,339, Ensenada with 765, Tecate with 155, San Quintín with 67, Rosarito with 21 and San Felipe with five.

Although after the arrival of the vaccine the light at the end of the tunnel can be seen, authorities asked not to let the guard down and to continue taking preventive measures since there are still 977 active cases in the region.
