The head of the Baja California Health Secretariat, Alonso Pérez Rico, commented this Wednesday during his daily report on the possibility of a third wave of COVID-19 reaching the state, as is happening in the European continent, where they are not even out of the second wave yet.

"Let's accept the new wave that is coming, when it comes we will let you know. A third wave is...the same thing that is happening in Europe right now; Spain is preparing for its third wave and they are not even out of their second wave. In this sense, keep on being careful, we are doing very well".

Despite the fact that the state registers one thousand 308 active cases of COVID-19 until this morning, Pérez Rico said that regarding suspected cases, hospitalizations, intubated patients and appointments in fever clinics are decreasing, so Baja California is "better than ever", since it is going downwards.

"We are going downward, this is very favorable. Even though we are activating activities we are going downwards, let's continue with this trend, let's continue taking care of ourselves, we are doing well. We should not want to run, we should not return everything (open everything). Here (pointing to the graph of suspicious cases) we are going to start to rise spectacularly if we stop taking care of ourselves. We are going to continue doing things as we have been doing them in Baja California, well", he expressed.

However, in order to continue in this way, he asked again for the co-responsibility of the population, by continuing to make use of prevention measures, such as social distancing, the use of masks, reducing mobility and hand washing.

So far, the accumulated positive cases are already 40 thousand 147, while deaths due to coronavirus total 6 thousand 568.
