The University of San Diego founded the Kroc School to address various issues and support at-risk youth and other groups in difficult situations. This is to reduce urban violence in order to build a more influential and peaceful border region. That is why the San Diego-Tijuana location invites community members to become Border Associates.

They will be responsible for creating a cross-border network of local academics, professionals and policy makers. Among the purposes are to protect migrants, increase access to justice and minimize human rights abuses in the area.

The program lasts 12 months and Border Associates will receive a stipend of $850 per month with the opportunity to purchase a grant of up to $5,000 for research or an activity related to the work they will be doing.

What is required? First, a Cover letter must be submitted no later than February 22. The letter should specify their areas of interest and how the effort contributes to building a more peaceful border region.
