BAJA CALIFORNIA. – A few weeks ago some Haitians started all the procedures for their stay in Baja California. However, the number of applications presented to the National Institute of Migration (INM) has grown.

Juan Pérez Floriano, head of the Secretariat of Labor and Social Welfare (STPS) told Uniradio Informa that currently there's 4,000 Haitians in Baja California and at least 2,000 of them will remain in the state.

Meanwhile the secretary of labor says that although a month ago several Haitians said they did not want to stay in the state because they would seek any opportunity to cross into the United States, two weeks ago there were more than 100 in search of residence.

Some companies have already approached with the intention of hiring Haitians.
