Mexico ends February with more than 2 million 86 thousand COVID-19 cases

The death count caused by COVID-19 ended at 185 thousand 715.

February is over and with it Mexico has reached a new monthly total regarding the pandemic we have been going through since March 2020, adding up to 2 million 86 thousand 928 infections and 185 thousand 715 deaths.

Regarding the figure registered in the last 24 hours, 810 new positive cases of COVID-19 and 458 deaths were diagnosed.

The infections estimated by the Secretariat of Health, which are based on a calculation created taking into account the number of confirmed cases, the percentage of positivity and the epidemiological association, considers that there are already around 281 thousand 355 cases of COVID-19 in the country.

Meanwhile, according to information from the National Institute of Public Health (INSP), the lethality rate continues at 8.9%, which means that out of every 100 people who become infected with COVID-19, 8.9 unfortunately lose the battle against the disease.

The country maintains about 51 thousand 29 active cases, while in better news, fortunately one million 633 thousand 900 people have already managed to recover from the coronavirus.

Regarding the National Vaccination Plan, the general director of the National Center for Preventive Programs and Disease Control, Ruy Lopez Ridaura, stated that 55 thousand and 55 anti-COVID doses were applied today to people over 60 years of age, for a total of 2 million 455 thousand and 95 vaccines administered so far.

Mexico remains in third place in the list with the most deaths caused by COVID-19 so far in the pandemic, Brazil remains in second place, reaching almost 255 thousand deaths caused by coronavirus, while the United States has already accumulated more than 512 thousand deaths.
