U.S.-Mexico border restrictions to continue through April 21

A new update will be given until April 21.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced that non-essential travel restrictions between the U.S. and Mexican borders will continue, it made this known through its Twitter page.

"To prevent further spread of COVID-19, and in coordination with our partners in Canada and Mexico, the United States is extending non-essential travel restrictions at our land borders through April 21, while ensuring continued flows of essential trade and travel."

The limitations will mark one year since their implementation this March 21 and will continue at least through April 21. According to authorities on both sides of the border, they will continue to work with the governments to reopen the borders when conditions improve.

This news is not surprising due to the fact that this Monday, Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard informed that there is ongoing communication between the nations involved, through which they share figures and indications and that, so far, the determination is that the restrictions will be removed when the border municipalities and cities are in green.
