Hospital occupancy reaches less than 10% in Baja California because of COVID-19

This is happening "for the first time in a very long time", said the Secretary of Health.

COVID-19 trends continue to decline in Baja California, according to the head of the Secretariat of Health, Alonso Perez Rico, who reported that "for the first time in a long time", hospital occupancy is below 10%, specifically 9.10%.

After being confirmed with coronavirus, 64 patients were hospitalized this Saturday, and 32 more on a ventilator.

According to the Secretary, today there are 853 beds available and 237 ventilators, to continue facing the pandemic.

In the last 24 hours 37 new cases were registered, of which 19 belong to Mexicali, eight to Tijuana, four to Ensenada, three to Tecate and three to Rosarito. At the same time, 19 more deaths occurred, six of them in Mexicali, five in Tijuana, five in San Quintin and two in Ensenada.

Meanwhile, there are 277 active cases today, 112 of which are concentrated in Mexicali, 100 in Tijuana, 27 in Ensenada, 15 in Rosarito, 13 in San Quintin, seven in Tecate and three in San Felipe.

On the other hand, in view of the approaching Easter vacations, Perez Rico commented that on Monday the federal guidelines corresponding to the beaches will be announced, establishing in this document whether they will remain open, closed or with a limited capacity during this period.

Regardless of this, he asked the population to continue to be careful no matter where they go.
