The 2025 edition of the Tijuana Book Fair kicked off today with a historic change: for the first time, the event is being held at the El Trompo Museum, located in the city’s Zona Este. Organizers expect attendance to surpass 60,000 over the course of the fair.
The literary celebration will run through June 15, featuring a packed schedule of forums, talks, and book presentations. Staying true to its roots, it continues to serve as a meeting point for readers, writers, and publishers alike. As the official website puts it:
“Over the years, this celebration of literature has brought together hundreds of publishing houses, becoming a plural and dynamic space where literature, thought, art, and community converge.”

Tijuana Mayor Reaffirms Cultural Commitment
Tijuana Mayor Ismael Burgueño Ruiz attended the opening ceremony and expressed his enthusiasm for the ten-day cultural event. He encouraged residents to take part in what he described as a top-tier literary festival.
He also reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting the arts, calling culture and creativity key pillars in human development.

A Tour Through the 40th Edition of the Tijuana Book Fair
Visiting the Tijuana Book Fair is a must for anyone who loves books, art, and culture. Surrounded by local authors and thousands of titles, readers step into a world of stories that inspire and connect. More than 100 publishers are represented this year, offering everything from horror to fantasy. The fair also features art booths, craft materials, and souvenirs that capture the lively, creative energy of the event.
Children have their space too. A special pavilion is dedicated to young readers, and even before the official ribbon-cutting ceremony, more than 2,000 elementary school students had already visited the fair and participated in activities across the grounds.
And if all that exploring makes you hungry, there’s no shortage of options. A food court offers typical dishes from Baja California, including the world-famous Caesar salad—served in a setting modeled after the original Tijuana restaurant where it was created to offer a taste of local history.

What to Expect in the Coming Days
The fair features three exhibition halls, a forum, and the children’s pavilion. Throughout the week, special events will showcase regional authors and offer spaces for dialogue and discovery.
Writers from major publishing houses like Penguin Random House, Planeta, and Lapicero Rojo will be in attendance. Special guests include actor Odin Dupeyron and Julián Plascencia, member of the Plascencia restaurant group and general manager of Caesars.
