During his daily report, Baja California's Secretary of Health, Alonso Pérez Rico, informed that 98 patients were hospitalized this Tuesday morning due to COVID-19. But he added that these are not all of them, and that there are still more to be confirmed. However, he noted that of the nearly 100 hospitalized, 20% occupy a ventilator and half will not win the battle.
"They arrive with very damaged lungs to hospital units and there is no effective treatment, there is still no cure," he said.
In the last 24 hours Baja California added 21 new cases, of which 13 belong to Mexicali, four to Tijuana, three to Ensenada and one to Rosarito. In addition, of the 11 new deaths, six occurred in Tijuana and five in the state capital.
Although most of the municipalities show downward trends, Mexicali continues to rise, with an incidence per 100 thousand inhabitants of 21.23, an Effective Reproduction Rate (ER) of 1.14, and accumulating 226 active cases out of 330 in the region.
The latter caused it to be positioned in 15th place in the top 20 municipalities with the most active cases in the country.
So far in the pandemic, the state has registered 47 thousand 833 Baja Californians who have tested positive for COVID-19 and 8 thousand and 19 who have died from the disease.
