Baja California is the state with the highest COVID-19 mortality rate in Mexico

With a percentage of 17%, the northern state has the highest mortality rate in the country

During the conference held at the National Palace, where the Secretariat of Health (SSa) and the National Institute of Public Health (INSP) reported on the daily development of the COVID-19 pandemic in Mexican territory, authorities revealed that Baja California is currently the state with the highest mortality rate due to the infectious disease in Mexico.

According to the SSa, this pandemic rate rose to 17% in the last few days in the state, which means that out of every 100 diagnosed cases, 17 people die from the SARS Cov-2 virus. In this list is followed by Hidalgo, Sinaloa and Veracruz, where 16 deaths are registered for every 100 infections.

For the moment, Mexico City (4 thousand 572) and the State of Mexico (one thousand 215) are the states with the highest number of estimated active cases, while Tlaxcala (71) and Campeche (91) have the lowest number of detected cases. Regarding this parameter, Baja California has 373 active cases reported so far.

Despite the fact that it is the border entity which has the highest lethality rate reported in the nation, Mexico City (42 thousand 403) and the State of Mexico (25 thousand 249) are once again among the first places in terms of the number of deaths caused by coronavirus, with Campeche being the entity which registers the fewest deaths per day.

In the last 24 hours, Baja California added 72 new cases and 12 deaths, giving a total balance of 47 thousand 905 diagnosed infections and 8 thousand and 31 deaths caused by COVID-19.
