Baja California began the weekend with 402 active COVID-19 cases, 285 of which are located in Mexicali, while 88 are in Tijuana, 13 in Ensenada, 10 in San Felipe, four in Tecate and two in Rosarito. Of this total of cases, 308 are recovering at home, and the other 94 were hospitalized, but 31 of the latter are on a ventilator.

On the other hand, according to the report presented this Saturday by the Secretary of Health, Alonso Pérez Rico, from yesterday to today 72 new cases were registered in the state, most of them belonging to Mexicali, with 40 of these cases. Of the rest, 20 belong to Tijuana, three to Ensenada, two to San Felipe and one to Rosarito.

Four new deaths were also reported, two of which occurred in the state capital, one in Tijuana and another in Ensenada. Currently, Mexicali is the municipality where the virus is reproducing the fastest, since its Effective Reproduction Rate (ER) is 1.14, which means that here one person with coronavirus can transmit it to two more people.

Pérez Rico commented that on Monday they will share evidence of the non-compliance of prevention measures in Mexicali, which puts them in danger of remaining in the orange traffic light and turning to red.

So far in the pandemic, 48 thousand 755 people have been infected with the coronavirus, 18 thousand 869 in Mexicali. In addition, of the 8 thousand 141 deaths, 3 thousand and 19 have occurred in the Mexicali region.
