More than a year after the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as restrictions on border crossings between Mexico and the United States, and now the progress in vaccination between both countries, the desire to be able to visit "the other side" increases more and more.
In view of this, it has been rumored that some Baja California residents have been able to cross into the neighboring country, despite having a tourist visa, by making an appointment to receive the vaccine on the U.S. side, which they present to the border agents.
There are even those who in their testimony assure that they clearly told the border agent the reason for the crossing and he allowed them access, although not without first going through several revisions, even the car.
This is why the U.S. Consulate General in Tijuana, shared what the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has already stated on other occasions: "Traveling for the sole purpose of obtaining a vaccine is not permitted under current land travel restrictions".
It is worth mentioning that the restrictions for land access travelers with this type of visa remain in effect until June 21, and only the following activities are considered essential by the neighboring country:
