As of today, 67.5% of Baja California's population has completed its vaccination schedule against COVID-19, that is one million 820 thousand 530 people, according to the head of the State Secretariat of Health, Alonso Pérez Rico.

He mentioned that once 70% is reached, the Entity would reach the minimum herd immunity, since two out of every three Baja Californians would be fully vaccinated.

"If we are able to get Pfizer and AstraZeneca to continue sending us the second shipments of vaccines to finish the second dose schemes, we would end up with over 90% of the vaccinated population", he assured.

Meanwhile, a new shipment of Pfizer vaccine is expected to arrive in Mexico tomorrow, of which a part could be sent to Baja California, which will be destined to Tijuana and Ensenada, Pérez Rico clarified.

"We are going to vaccinate Tijuana this week, if the shipment from the federal government arrives," he said.

According to the Secretary, 116 thousand doses are currently needed, but the amount to be sent has not yet been confirmed.
