The head of the Baja California Health Department, Alonso Pérez Rico, confessed that in the recent event for Tijuana's anniversary "there were many areas of opportunity" to be addressed, which he assured will not be repeated.

This is why in upcoming events, such as the Tijuana and Rosarito fairs, he said that proof of vaccination, or a negative PCR or antigenic test, will be required, as well as the use of masks at all times.

He also warned: "We are monitoring the number of active cases in detail in the moderate and severe modality that will occur in the next 10 to 14 days in Tijuana; if the number rises to a percentage that increases hospitalization by more than 3%, all mass events will be suspended. Therefore, it is very important to enforce health and safety protocols in these events".

According to the Secretary's report, of the 344 active cases reported on Tuesday, 268 are recovering at home because they have a mild form of the disease, however, the remaining 76 are hospitalized, and 24 of them need a ventilator.

It is worth mentioning that 132 of the total active cases are located in Mexicali, 121 in Tijuana, 69 in Ensenada, 10 in San Quintin, seven in Tecate, four in Rosarito and one in San Felipe. As of today, the municipalities with the highest Effective Reproduction Rate (ER) in the State are Tecate, Ensenada and Tijuana, with 1.53, 1.24 and 1.07, respectively.

Let's remember that the ER increases or decreases according to the behavior of the population between the previous 10 to 14 days, so Pérez Rico asked to be careful now, because if not, it will be reflected in the following days.
