Tijuana City Hall and "We Love U" Foundation clean up Cañon del Matadero

Approximately 22 tons of garbage were removed as part of the cleanup day

This weekend the Tijuana City Hall and the "We Love U" Foundation carried out a cleanup day in the Cañon del Matadero neighborhood, with the objective of maintaining clean and rehabilitated rain gutters, green areas and recreational spaces.

The municipal president, Karla Patricia Ruiz Macfarland, toured the area, where around 22 tons of garbage were removed from an area of 3 thousand 190 square meters, trees were pruned, children's games, sports courts were rehabilitated and painted, and a green area was reforested.

"It is important to contribute to the care of the environment, the environment in which we live, thereby creating bridges of friendship as Tijuana grows every day, it is more multicultural to continue with these bonds of respect, affection and unity to promote in children and young people the love for their environment," said the mayor.

Ruiz Macfarland presented a recognition to the international president of the association, Zhang Gil-jah, for her participation in this activity, which was received by her representative in Tijuana, Pablo.

In this cleaning day, 150 members of the "We Love U" foundation participated, who worked with enthusiasm together with the neighbors of this part of the Playas de Tijuana delegation, as well as 35 elements of the forestation and cleaning area of the Municipal Public Services Department and 30 more people from the Municipal Offenders' Shelter.

Also present were Patricia Peterson Villalobos, Secretary of Territorial, Urban and Environmental Development, and Enrique Ochoa, head of the Municipal Public Services Department's Cleaning Department.

It is worth mentioning that the "We Love U" Foundation aims to carry out activities to make the world a better place, where everyone is respected, and sustainable peace is created.
