Baja California's Secretary of Health, Alonso Pérez Rico, announced through the daily COVID report on Tuesday, October 19, that 14 thousand and 40 vaccines from Pfizer-BioNTech laboratories have arrived in the region to be administered to children with comorbidities between the ages of 12 and 17.

It is worth mentioning that the registration for this age group started on October 10 for children with comorbidities such as chronic heart or lung diseases, chronic kidney, liver or digestive system conditions, chronic neurological diseases, endocrine diseases, moderate or severe immunosuppression, dysfunction of the arm and hematological diseases, severe genetic anomalies affecting several systems or teenage pregnancy.

It should be noted that Pérez Rico shared that so far 80.71% of the population over 18 years of age eligible to receive the vaccine, has this complete vaccination schedule, with the arrival of these vaccines for children aged 12 to 17 years with comorbidities, progress is being made little by little so that this percentage of vaccinated population increases.

Although the doses are already in the region, the dates and places for the application of these biologicals are not yet confirmed by any government agency or the State Health Secretariat, so it is important to be attentive to this media and our networks to know about all the updates regarding this issue.

Remember that so far, only children under 12 years old will be able to cross the Tijuana - San Diego border without presenting a certificate of vaccination against COVID-19, after the border reopening, as long as their parents accompany them and have the complete vaccination and the certificate that proves it, according to information provided by CBP to the Economic Development Council in Tijuana (CDT).
