Children from 12 to 17 years old will be vaccinated in hospitals in Baja California

Children will be vaccinated in hospitals on call

Alonso Pérez Rico, Baja California's Secretary of Health, announced through COVID-19's daily report that the vaccines destined for children from 12 to 17 years old are already in the state and that these same will be applied in hospitals by call.

"We already have the vaccine for children from 12 to 17 years old, for them they are not going to be vaccinated in the high efficiency vaccination centers, they are going to be vaccinated in hospitals and it is going to be by call" explained Dr. Pérez Rico.

During the state government's report, it was not possible to obtain an exact date as to when the vaccination of minors will begin, but it is estimated that it will be during the following weeks.

Prior to this announcement, he mentioned the arrival of 30 thousand first dose vaccines for people over 18 years of age, of which 15 thousand are destined for Tijuana, 10 thousand for Mexicali and 5 thousand for Ensenada. These are scheduled to be applied starting tomorrow, Thursday, October 21, while vaccinations for second doses continue throughout Baja California.

The Tijuana Health Services Jurisdiction page announces on Facebook the resumption of AstraZeneca's first dose application in conjunction with Pfizer, Sinovac and AstraZeneca's second dose, all for people over 18 years of age.

The second dose is for people vaccinated before August 23rd to be eligible for AstraZeneca, September 29th for Pfizer and September 25th for Sinovac, they can go to the application of their pending second dose and conclude with their vaccination schedule. It is important to note that it is required to bring proof of INE, CURP or passport as well as a pen in order to get vaccinated.

The vaccination site will be at the Instituto de Movilidad Sustentable (IMOS) from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Carretera Libre Tijuana-Tecate Km. 26.5, Esquina, Blvd. Nogales, El Florido. It is recommended to be well fed, bring a bottle of water, take your medications ahead of time and have time available.
