The Baja California Secretariat of Citizen Security will work closely with the Mexican government, led by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, to maintain peace in the state, according to the Governor of the State, Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda, during the seventh edition of Maanera Wednesday, when he introduced the Secretariat's head, General Gilberto Landeros Briseo, to the media and Baja California society.

Landeros Briseo, according to the president, has extensive experience in matters of national security and internal security, in addition to having previously served as Commander of the Second Military Zone, so he understands the state and its specific needs, making the development of an effective strategy easier.

Likewise, he stated that the Major General's presence in the Security Secretariat is part of the Federal Government's security strategy, as the agency, which has been operational since January 1, has the support of Mexico's President, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, who supports the State Administration's policies in the fight against insecurity in Baja California.

Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda gave a detailed report on security actions in Baja California during the morning conference, in addition to endorsing the commitment to work with municipal and federal security forces, as well as the Baja California State Attorney General's Office, whose Dispatch Manager, Hiram Sánchez Zamora, was also present.

Similarly, Marina del Pilar stated that the Fourth Transformation includes on its agenda the causes of the population's most vulnerable groups, one of the most important of which is security and justice, which allow for peaceful coexistence while ensuring economic and social progress for all.

As a result, one of the top goals is and will continue to be the development of police companies, which will lead to improved training, certification, and trust controls. As a result, both the state government and municipalities have a significant role—a chance for police officers to be treated with dignity and improve their working circumstances.

Significant increases are included in the 2022 Budget to address security-related issues, such as the Gender Alert for the State of Baja California, bolstering the protection of girls, adolescents, and women, for example, through the Justice Center for Women and a significant budget expansion for the Baja California Women's Institute.

General Landeros will be in charge of a secretariat with a budget of 1,239 million pesos, which, when combined with the budget for the State Penitentiary System, totals more than 2,450 million pesos. This is the most significant budget awarded to agencies and entities exclusively for state resources.

Catalino Zavala Márquez, the Secretary-General of the Government of the State of Baja California, was also present at the news conference on Wednesday.

Finally, the Governor of Baja California stated that it would be possible to restore peace in the streets and households in the entity's seven municipalities through coordination between the three levels of government and the strengthening of corporations and the development of an adequate crime prevention model.
