Marina del Pilar's government commemorates the 85th anniversary of the Land Assault in Baja California

The farmers of Baja California's work and labor were commemorated today

On behalf of the Governor of the State, Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda, the Secretary General of the Government of Baja California, Catalino Zavala Márquez, conducted a recognition ceremony for all Baja Californians who protected agricultural areas from outsiders on Thursday.

The state authorities first went to the ejido Islas Agrarias B on the 85th anniversary of the so-called "Assault on the Lands," where they remembered the agrarians' struggle and effort, which served as the foundation for the economic development and well-being of the families in the Mexicali Valley.

The commemoration of the Assault on the Lands, headed by Hipólito Rentera and the Guillén brothers, as well as Felipa Viuda de Arellano, reminds us of what organized society is capable of achieving, according to the secretary.

"Unlike earlier decades, when the government imposed its will and rights were curtailed so that people did not demonstrate," Catalino Zavala Márquez underlined, "now we have a different nation and a different Baja California with a government that listens to and satisfies social needs."

Later, honor guards were maintained in the Michoacán de Ocampo ejido, and a traditional tree was planted to symbolize the government's support for the rural area and its residents.

The authorities paid close attention to the requests and needs of citizens committed to agricultural activity, ensuring that the State Government, led by Marina del Pilar, will act as a liaison with federal authorities while also providing local support.

Catalino Zavala emphasized the agricultural productivity of the Mexicali Valley, which was primarily centered on cotton, fodder, grains, and vegetables, and would not have benefited the people if the social revolt had not occurred on January 27, 1937.

The Municipal President of Mexicali, Norma Alicia Bustamante; local deputy Manuel Guerrero Luna; the Secretaries of Education, Gerardo Arturo Sols Benavides, Countryside and Food Security, Juan Meléndrez Espinoza, and Infrastructure, Urban Development and Territorial Reorganization, Arturo Espinoza Jaramillo, among others, attended the celebration.
