Marina del Pilar promotes science and technology in education sector

Governor Marina del Pilar continues carrying out actions to strengthen the education sector in Baja California

Education has been one of the main issues that Governor Marina del Pilar has paid attention to since the beginning of her administration, which is why she has promoted the creation of the first Ordinary Session of the State Council of Science and Technological Innovation (COCIT) focused on the implementation of technological development in education.

The session was presided by the Secretary of Education of Baja California, Gerardo Arturo Solís Benavides, along with the head of COCITBC, Abraham Orozco Lazcano, who explained that this is a consultation agency so that state authorities can analyze and deliberate about state infrastructure focused on science and technology.

The governor of Baja California reiterated the implementation of this type of knowledge because it can make a difference in order to improve educational practices, and stated that public policies are being developed to promote the development of scientific research, technological growth, and innovation, in order to pursue the technological modernization of the state.

Marina del Pilar stated that she is looking to increase the level of connection in Baja Californian schools, as well as strengthening the operation of labs, research centers, and the use of specialized programs to assist students that are currently facing education delay, among other things.

For his part, Solís Benavides stated that during this session they presented the progress of the 2022 projects and the action plan for 2023, where the highlights are the proposals of new tools for basic education, higher education, and university formation.

The official highlighted that Baja California is the tip of the spear nationwide when it comes to learning recovery and national and international reach of home education, due to the application of technological and educational platforms such as Google for Education, with the goal of contributing to the improvement of school performance.

Among the goals of COCITBC is to contribute to improving the level of human development of Baja Californian society, boost and articulate the capability of the state for scientific, technological, innovative, linking, and formation technology in strategic areas that promote sustainable development, social wellbeing, and the solution of urgent assistance problems in the state.

In addition, there is the promotion and support of programs of scientific and high-level technology formation in institutions of higher education, research centers, and state laboratories.

Other goals include the strengthening of lab equipment at middle and higher education institutions, research centers, and state labs, in order to support basic and applied research, technology development, innovation, and training. Scholarships to link people with different public and private organizations will also be given.

The session had the in person and virtual presence of members of the Council, among which there were Universidad Autónoma de Baja California (UABC), the Center of Nano Sciences and Nanotechnology of Universidad Autónoma de México (UNAM), Universidad Tecnológica de Tijuana (UTT), among other organizations.
