Baja California continues to decrease its cases of COVID-19 according to what was presented yesterday morning by the head of the Secretariat of Health, Alonso Perez Rico.
In the last 24 hours only 25 new cases of coronavirus were registered, out of the more than 120 tests performed last Sunday, according to the Secretary. In addition, in that period of time the death of five people from this disease was also reported.
"Our positivity rate is going down, there is less and less COVID circulation in our territory," he pointed out.
Active cases went from 745 to 681 in the state, most of them concentrated in Tijuana with 273, followed by Mexicali with 217, Ensenada with 118, San Quintin with 35, Rosarito with 22, Tecate with nine and San Felipe with seven.
And although all the municipalities decreased such cases, and the rest of the indicators are also going down, Perez Rico said that "unfortunately we have to pay the price of what happened [on ] (February 14) of the agglomerations that existed".
So far, 42 thousand 344 confirmed cases have been accumulated in Baja California, of which the municipalities where most of this total was reported were in Mexicali and Tijuana, registering 16 thousand 184 and 15 thousand 242 respectively.
In the case of Baja Californians who have died from COVID-19 so far during the pandemic, there have been 7 thousand and 84 deaths at the state level, and these occurred mainly in Tijuana and Mexicali, with 3 thousand 159 and 2 thousand 638, respectively.
As of yesterday, the hospital occupancy rate in Baja California is 28.34%, while a month ago it was 70.8%. According to the Secretary of Health, 89 patients were intubated, compared to 173 30 days ago.
"The fact that our hospitals are emptying, that we do not have so many intubated patients, that the winter season is over, that we are starting vaccination does not mean that the pandemic is over. We have to continue taking care of ourselves, we have to continue bringing our face masks, another is social distancing, hand washing, these are the keys to success that will lead us to green in the very near future," he said.
