SAN DIEGO.- It's been 206 years since the Independence of Mexico, when the Jesuit priest Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla triggered a movement that inspired thousands of people to fight for a freedom. The church bells that night were heard and motivational words danced through many ears and history was made; that's why even today, every Sept. 16 a "Viva Mexico" scream resonates in the whole country at the Independence Day celebration.

That said, we would like to recommend you a few places to enjoy this celebration in San Diego, just in case you don't feel that much energized to cross and celebrate it in Tijuana. Remember that no matter where you are or where you're from, the feeling is the same and you could always use a nice time.

Go out these next days and experience "Fiestas Patrias" in any of these places.

1.- Balboa Park Parade

This is the first time a Mexican Independence Day parade will take place in Balboa Park. Date is Sept. 16 and bands from Southern California will perform for everybody's enjoyment.
