"Zorrita" defeated by Matthysse

Mexican fighter falls after 5 rounds

LOS ANGELES.- In a tough match and with adrenaline pumping high, Argentinean contender Lucas Matthysse(31-2, 29 KO's) lived up to expectations by knocking down Mexican rival Humberto "Zorrita" Soto (58-8-2, 34 KO's) in the 5th round earning for himself a chance at disputing the WBC's Super Lightweight title.

On the first two rounds the Mexican boxer was in excellent shape, but as soon as he felt Matthysse's strikes his rhythm dropped down, he followed his rivals lead and ended up biting more than he could chew.

The conclusion of the match came at the end of the fifth round when, after receiving two powerful right punches, he sent a wounded "Zorrita" to the floor; even though the bell had rung, the referee Raúl Caiz allowed it. From the corner Bobby Quierarte and Antonio Lozada decided to stop the fight conceding Matthysse the victory by protecting Soto's safety.
