Tijuana and San Diego mayors take in Tijuana Xolos game

They were both at the San Diego Clasico watching the Tijuana Xolos.

SAN DIEGO - The passion that Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles produces is huge on both sides of the border; from the thousands of fans that crossed the border to watch the game against Club America, to the passion in the mayors of San Diego and Tijuana Bob Filner and Carlos Bustamante.

Both mayors have already shown their support to the Tijuana Xolos in the past. Filner had dedicated an official "Tijuana Xolos" day in San Diego. And Carlos Bustamante received the team right after the historic championship win in Toluca.

This past Saturday night both mayors were present in the "Park in the Park" section of Petco Park to witness the Tijuana Xolos 5-2 win over Club America.

It was initially planned for both mayor to give the ceremonial initial first kick, but this was canceled due to reasons yet unknown. This gave both mayors a chance to discuss not only soccer, but issues that affect both border cities.

Soccer has united fans on both sides of the border and both "municipal presidents" (mayors) of the most important border in the world.
