Joe Corona happy for World Cup qualificaion

He is surprised at Mexico's struggles.

SAN DIEGO - After having been called up last Saturday, traveled on Sunday to Columbus, OH and being there for the World Cup qualification celebrations, Club Tijuana midfielder Joe Corona said to be happy to be there present the moment the United States Men's National Team achieved their ticket to Brazil 2014.

"These are moments in which you have to just celebrate. I'm very happy that the team is reaching its goals" said the Sweetwater High alumni.

He added "World Cup is left" on his list of objectives and that "everyone fights for a spot" in reference to him looking to get on the starting eleven.

In an interview with ESPN after the match Joe Corona was asked about the current state that the Mexican National Team finds itself in which at the moment they would completely miss out on the World Cup.

"yes, it is surprising what is happening with the Mexican National Team, in previous games it was obvious that something wasn't working. It is a very drastic situation for them" commented Corona.

Edgar Castillo and Joe Corona will return to Tijuana as soon as possible to fight for a spot on Jorge Almiron's starting lineup on Sunday when Xolos face off against Chivas of Guadalajara.
