Mictlán
The magical fields of Mictlán come alive with color, flowers, and sweetness in this family-friendly celebration running from November 1 to 2. The event features stage performances inspired by Coco, along with La Catrina del Mictlán and Coco Liso. The Universidad Vizcaya de las Américas will host a special pan de muerto and hot chocolate tasting, a Catrina costume contest, and more.

Día de Muertos Film Series

Tecate’s Día de Muertos Festival
Now in its 25th year, Tecate’s Día de Muertos Festival will fill the city with art, music, and tradition. The event includes a grand procession through the streets featuring local schools, organizations, and cultural collectives, culminating in Parque Miguel Hidalgo with a Catrina contest and live performances.

La Última Fiesta (The Last Party)
Rosarito’s beachfront celebration, La Última Fiesta, will blend music, food, bonfires, dance, and altars dedicated to loved ones who’ve passed. A highlight of the event is La Última Ola—a symbolic ceremony where surfers, friends, and families honor their departed with flowers and offerings to the sea. The festival also includes a community parade, theatrical performances, illuminated alebrijes, and altar competitions.

Día de Muertos 5K Run
Tijuana’s Carrera de Día de Muertos 5K combines fitness and philanthropy, raising funds for Sonriendo Juntos A.C. The race starts at Parque Esperanto and includes men’s and women’s categories. Registration covers a sports shirt, bib, hydration stations, recovery area, restrooms, bag check, and a commemorative medal. A live performance by Jessie Vázquez will follow the run. The first 500 participants will receive shirts, and top finishers will earn medals.

Fiesta de las Ánimas (Festival of Souls)
Tijuana’s Fiesta de las Ánimas brings together music, dance, gastronomy, and tradition in one cultural gathering. The event features a food and crafts fair highlighting Ñuu Savi and Purépecha flavors, along with Mexican street food, folk and flamenco dance, Xantolo performances, storytelling sessions, choir and symphonic concerts, Catrina runway shows, and workshops for all ages.
