The Governor participated in welcoming event for the school's newcomers

MEXICALI.- When participating in the welcoming event for new students of the Autnomous University of Baja California (UABC in Spanish), State Governor Francisco "Kiko" Vega de Lamadrid, acknowledged this prestigious and renown institution as one the best in the country, having lots of history, concerned for the professional and social growth of their students as well as the state's development.

The event took place in the university's main auditorium, where Vega de Lamadrid was accompanied by the school's Headmaster, Juan Manuel Ocegueda, who congratulated the new students for choosing to study at UABC, especially those from other countries and states of Mexico, as well as those from Baja California, he pointed out that everyone is and will always be welcomed.

The State Governor mentioned that this government has kept an eye on every educational institution in Baja California, especially UABC, given that this institution has earned its prestige through its work, proof of that is that at time being the school has over 61,000 enrolled students, from Baja, other states and from abroad, meaning it accounts for 58% of Baja's university demand.

"Having 61,000 students enrolled in this institution is easily said, but it requires a great effort and in this moment you are benefiting from that work, I know that you'll commit to it, striving to achieve your goals that you have set yourselves, even if unfortunately, many won't make it." explained Vega de Lamadrid.

On his behalf, Juan Manuel Ocegueda invited the student community to responsibly take on this new stage and life by putting effort into their academic formation; he added that UABC is community committed to Baja California, youth, higher quality education and social causes of those less fortunate, he also asked the students to take advantage of this opportunity; "because education changes lives and transforms societies, it's a treasure",
