A Contraceptive Shot For Men Is Closer Than Ever

99% effective

CHINA.- A study published in The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism informed that they are working on a new contraceptive shot for men as efficient as the pill.

This contraceptive method consist of a testosterone shot that reduces the levels of two brain regulatory substances, the follicle stimulating and lutropin hormones, which interrupt the production of sperm with a reversible effect.

The treatment was tested in China, on a group of healthy and fertile men between the ages of 20 and 45 years of age, who have already been parent two years prior to the testing. Their wives among the ages of 18 and 38 years of ages did not suffer any infertility problems either.

The volunteers received a 500 milligram monthly shot which is a decanoate of testosterone inside an oil seed of tea, during a period of two and a half years.

From all the participants only 1% conceived a child during the trail test, proving the contraceptive has 99% of effectiveness.

At the moment there haven’t been any secondary effect among they male participants and their fertility was regain to its usual levels six moths after having interrupted their treatment. However, experts are still testing and paying extreme attention to cardiovascular, prostate or behavior problems that may come up eventually.
