Manuel Garza was sentenced to death after killing an officer in 2001

TEXAS.- An Hispanic man by the name of Manuel Garza was executed Tuesday evening as part of his death sentence after killing a police officer with his own gun back in 2001. Garza, from San Antonio Texas passed away 30 minutes after receiving a lethal injection.

Before dying, Garza mentioned that he regretted the pain he'd caused the family and friends of officer John Riojas, who was chasing him after he had robbed a house when he was just 20 years of age.

He also mentioned that he thought the officer had some fault in the events given that pulling out his gun was uncalled for, however, witness at the scene 14 years ago said that they saw Garza deliberately shooting Riojas, put the gun in his pants and then run away.

Local media informed that there are two more executions scheduled in Texas this months. this one being the sixth execution of 2015.
